Harper’s Bazaar: The New California Wine Destination: Healdsburg

Published June 11, 2015

Not all that long ago, Healdsburg was known as a sleepy little town just a short drive north of Napa Valley. These days, it's brimming with Michelin-starred restaurants boasting hyper-local fare, as well as top-notch wineries. Meanwhile, it continues to maintain its small town charm. Next time you're headed to wine country, make Healdsburg you destination. To give us some insider tips, we asked resident expert Erin Miller, the rising star winemaker at Twomey (one of our favorites for Pinot Noirs and Sauvignon Blanc), which has a stunning winery in Healdsburg in addition to its Calistoga outpost (in Napa). Here's where locals are eating and drinking in Healdsburg right now.

Charlie Palmer's Dry Creek Kitchen: "Perfect for celebrating - Charlie is the face of Healdsburg cuisine and this restaurant is the crown jewel of Sonoma. His annual Pigs & Pinot event at the restaurant in Healdsburg is one of the top food events in the country. Take advantage of no corkage on local bottles, anything that has scallops or duck in the name, and one of the most creative chicken entrees around."
